“I’ll follow up Thursday” is a very ambitious thing to say when I can’t remember why I walked into the kitchen. 😂
But apparently I’ve been trusting that same brain to remember every email that needs another action.
Did they respond?
Did I send what I promised?
How long was I going to wait before checking in?
Sending the email was only part of the job. There was still something I needed to remember AFTER I hit send.
So this is one of the workflows I’m building with AI - catching those commitments and putting the next action somewhere I’ll actually see it.
Want to try it? Here’s the prompt. 👇
“When I send or receive an email that creates a future commitment, identify what needs to happen next, who is responsible, and when it needs to happen. If I am responsible, create a follow-up task for the appropriate date on my calendar. If no date is stated, suggest one for me to confirm. Include a reference to the original email so I can find the conversation.”
You’ll need your email and calendar connected with the appropriate permissions. For ongoing checking, have ChatGPT help you set up and confirm a scheduled workflow, pasting the prompt once doesn’t mean it’s monitoring your inbox.
Start with a few emails and check that it catches the right action, person, and date.
Because “follow up with Sarah” is helpful. “Follow up with Sarah about the proposal on Thursday” is something I can actually DO.
My friend, I would love to stop carrying an imaginary sticky note for every conversation I’ve ever had. 😂 Wouldn't you?
Save this prompt and follow along. I’m testing this inside my actual business and sharing everything worth stealing. 💜
